The Las Vegas reveal
Lenovo and Motorola presented several new hardware concepts during the recent Lenovo Tech World in Las Vegas. The companies demonstrated a Rollable concept that expands a 4-inch display vertically to 6.5 inches to accommodate long content like websites. This model uses a flexible OLED panel and adjusts Android elements automatically as the screen grows. The Legion Pro Rollable Concept from the TCL CSOT partnership expands horizontally from 16 inches to 24 inches. This laptop provides three distinct modes: Focus Mode at 16 inches, Tactical Mode at 21.5 inches, and Arena Mode at 24 inches. Motorola also showed the razr fold, which includes an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO main screen. This device provides a canvas for work and entertainment. The Rollable concept uses a 21:9 aspect ratio in landscape mode.
Competition with Samsung
The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra competes directly with Samsung’s 2026 clamshell lineup. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 provides a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover display. The Razr 50 Ultra uses a 4.0-inch pOLED cover screen. Both devices target users wanting portability. The Razr 50 Ultra provides a 165 Hz refresh rate on its 6.9-inch LTPO pOLED inner display. I would say this refresh rate gives the Razr an advantage over the Samsung Flip 7. Although Samsung and Honor utilize redesigned waterdrop-style hinges to flatten the fold to 1.2 mm, users still express concern regarding the durability of the thin plastic film covering the flexible OLED panels during daily use. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 maintains a 7.6-inch internal display, whereas the Razr 50 Ultra stays compact. You already know how much the screen size matters when choosing a clamshell. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 stays at a lower price point than the Fold 7. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 uses a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 4,400 mAh battery. The Honor Magic V5 weighs 217 g and provides a 5,800 mAh battery. The Huawei Mate XT Ultra presents a 10.2-inch display but costs over $3,500. The Motorola Razr Ultra 60 provides a 7.0-inch LTPO pOLED inner display and a 4,700 mAh battery with 68 W charging. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 weighs 215 g, a reduction of 24 g from its predecessor. Will the rollable technology ever reach mass-market production for the Razr line?
