Canva hits $26 billion AI suite revenue after Magic Studio push

Canva reported over 31 million paying users at the end of 2025, and its Magic Studio suite now fuels a massive portion of its growth. The company launched Canva Craft on October 22, which provides an in-house image generation model that plans layout, scale, hierarchy, and text before generating output. This release follows the April launch of Canva AI 2.0, which turned the assistant into an agent that calls tools, manages web research, and runs scheduled tasks. These developments push Canva toward a $26 billion revenue target for its AI design suite as it targets the enterprise market.

The economics of Magic Studio tiers

Canva uses a tiered pricing structure that separates individual users from collaborative teams. The Pro plan costs $18 per month or $144 per year for one person, while the Business plan costs $25 per user per month or $250 per user per year. Users on the Free plan receive 200 Standard AI features or 20 Premium AI features monthly, whereas Pro users get 200 Premium or 20 Ultra AI uses. Business users receive 400 Premium or 40 Ultra AI uses per member.

Plan Monthly Price (USD) Annual Price (USD) AI Allowance (Premium/Ultra)
Free $0 $0 20 Premium
Pro $18 $144 200 Premium / 20 Ultra
Business $25 $250 400 Premium / 40 Ultra

Canva Business scales linearly at $25 per user per month, so a team of four pays $100 monthly. This plan adds team admin controls, 100 Brand Kits, and 500GB of storage per user. Because Canva discontinued the old Canva Teams plan for new signups, users must select Business to invite team members. The Pro plan only allows one person to use the account, so a second person requires a Business subscription. If you rely on heavy AI video or presentation generation, you will exhaust these credits quickly.

Adobe rivalry and enterprise competition

Adobe Creative Cloud remains the primary competitor for professional workflows, though Canva targets the non-designer demographic. Adobe reported $6.4 billion in revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2026, which represents an 11% increase year over year. Adobe Creative Cloud Pro costs $34.99 per month, and its single-app options start at $22.99 per month. Unlike Canva, Adobe does not offer a free plan, but it provides a 14-day trial.

Canva focuses on speed for small businesses and marketers who need quick templates, whereas Adobe targets professional designers who require layered PSD workflows or professional print production. Canva Craft generates images up to 2K resolution in 30 aspect ratios, but independent reviews note that AI images can come out low resolution by default. Adobe Firefly serves as a dedicated generative AI platform, and its users can access more than 30 models. While Canva AI 2.0 uses tool-calling and connectors to Slack or Google Drive, Adobe ties AI to its existing industry-standard ecosystem.

Canva’s ability to convert AI outputs into editable designs through Magic Layers gives it an advantage in speed. However, professional designers should skip Canva if they need the advanced customization found in Photoshop or Illustrator. The Canva Business plan offers 100 Brand Kits, but users might find the AI quality trailing behind dedicated generators like Midjourney. Will Canva’s agentic AI eventually replace the need for specialized Adobe subscriptions in large agencies?

The cost per AI task fell nearly 90% since April, which allowed Canva to manage its growth outlook. Users encounter limits when they attempt to use Magic Media for heavy video or complex image tasks. If you need professional print production or high-resolution files for large formats, skip Canva. For social media teams and educators, the bundled features in the $18 Pro plan provide a cheaper alternative to separate stock photo subscriptions.
